Heritage Christian, Cathedral Men's Lacrosse Join Gleaners to Battle Hunger

Black (317.919.6539) Date: April 2, 2012 _________________________________ INDIANAPOLIS - Heritage Christian School and Cathedral High School have joined forces with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana in a competition to collect the most food in advance of their annual men\'s lacrosse rivalry game at 7:30 p.m. (Friday, April 13) at Heritage Christian. Non-perishable food items may be dropped in collection bins at each each school April 9-13 as part of Gleaners\' \"United To Battle Hunger\" campaign. On game night at Heritage, fans and players from both schools may drop items in bins designated for either Heritage or Cathedral. Gleaners representatives will determine the competition\'s winner, which will be announced at halftime of the 7:30 p.m. varsity game. \"The real battle is against hunger in Indiana, which is the 16th-worst state in the United States for hungry children,\" says Jennifer Harris, Heritage parent and men\'s lacrosse volunteer. \"We are uniting against hunger as lacrosse rivals on the field for a very worthy cause.\" The event is being presented in partnership with the U.S. Lacrosse Association-Indiana Chapter and the Indiana High School Lacrosse Association, according to Carrie Petty, chairman of the Gleaners board. \"What is so exciting is that the word is spreading of this food drive through these two great partnerships,\" says Petty. \"and food is being collected now from other Indianapolis-area lacrosse teams!\" (EDITOR\'S NOTE: PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EITHER PUBLISH THIS RELEASE IN ADVANCE AND / OR VISIT US FRIDAY, APRIL 13, FOR ON-SITE COVERAGE.
